Amplicon have recently confirmed themselves as one of the most technically competent distributors for Taiwanese Data Communications company Moxa Technologies by achieving MTSC (Moxa Technical Service Centre) status through a series of training sessions and exams. This honour is enjoyed by only a handful of Moxa outlets around the world.

In addition, a state-of-the-art video conference link direct to Moxas HQ in Taipei has been installed. This provides Amplicons staff and customers direct communication with the engineers that designed and developed Moxas impressive product range.

AMPLICON/MOXA

offers a wide range of Ethernet & Communication products such as:

The UC-7400 Series products are RISC-based communication platforms for your embedded applications. The UC-7400 Series features eight RS-232/422/485 serial ports, dual 10/100 Mbps Ethernet, PCMCIA, CompactFlash interface for flash disk, and wireless communication expansion. The pre-installed Linux OS provides an open software operating system for your software program development. This means that the software written for a desktop PC can be easily ported to the UC-7400 platform by using a GNU cross compiler without software code modification, see technical details.

The C320T intelligent multiport serial system offers up to 128 ports of RS232 or RS422. The onboard state-of-the-art CPU and 512kB of memory allow for a dramatic reduction in the loading of the host computer's CPU. Tests carried out with a 32 port system have shown that the C320T can reduce the load on a host PC by up to 68%. This is the ideal solution for systems that interface to a large number of serial devices. It also has an exceptional number of supported OS drivers, see the specifications for details.

The CP-100 series has been designed to meet the requirements of the new 3.3V PCI slots whilst remaining backwardly compatible with the long-standing generation of 5V PCI slots. Many motherboard and SBC manufacturers including Intel, Tyan and ADLINK have recently adopted the 3.3V PCI standard making the CP-100 series boards a must for anyone requiring extra serial ports in many new systems. The Moxa automatic turnaround facility, ADDC (Automatic Data Direction Control), is implemented on all RS485 boards permitting more straightforward control of two-wire half duplex RS485 networks. The CP-168U can operate as an eight port RS232 or RS422/485 board by adding the appropriate 'Opt 8' module.

ED6008 EtherDevice Servers The migration of industrial communications applications from the traditional fieldbus protocols to Ethernet is more pronounced than ever before. The open architecture of Ethernet and TCP/IP as well as high transmission speed has led to industrial equipment manufacturers fitting more machines and instruments with Ethernet capability. This type of instrument needs to be networked, but standard commercial hubs and switches are neither robust nor mission critical enough to handle the job.

Moxa Serial Boards These easy to use boards are ideal for many serial communication applications. They have been frequently used in applications involving POS devices, postal machines, kiosks and in instrument to PC connectivity. Volume pricing on this range is very attractive, contact sales for a quotation. Use an OPT8 module as listed below to achieve the exact interface required on the C168 series.

NPort 5000 Series
The first generation of Moxa device servers have served key markets including broadcast, medical and automation extremely well since their launch in 2000.

The second generation, NPort 5000 series, provides exciting new functionality at the same prices!

NPort DE-211
This serial to LAN device server facilitates RS232/422/485 communications over a TCP/IP network.

A metal case, heavy duty screw terminals and DIN rail mounting makes the DE-211 ideal for demanding industrial environments.

NPort DE-311
The numerous features combined with low cost set the NPort Express apart from all other serial to LAN devices. Serial interface flexibility, 10/100 LAN connection and high baud rate capability give this unit the edge every time. Of special interest to OEMs, the NPort Express can add network connectivity to existing and new serial instruments without the cost of board level redesign. A bespoke OEM version, the DE-311M is available, call for details.

NPort DE-311M
The DE-311M is a board level serial to Ethernet device designed specifically for OEMs wanting to convert their RS232 based products to network capable ones, giving a new lease of life to thousands of instrument and device designs. RS232 connection is made via a pin header array directly onto the board and an RJ45 socket provides Ethernet connectivity. The supplied drivers allow all existing software to be used without knowledge of TCP/IP programming. These modules are ideal for POS terminals, CNC/milling machines and electronic display systems. The onboard firmware supports several modes of operation, including driver mode, TCP server, TCP client, UDP server/client, pair connection and Ethernet modem. Metal cased versions, the DE-211 and DE-311 are also available. See the serial to Ethernet section for details.

NPort Server Pro
The NPort Server Pro family comprises high quality serial to Ethernet device servers that enable RS232 devices to communicate across a TCP/IP network. This mode of operation can save on additional wiring when a LAN, WAN, or even Internet connectivity already exists to take your serial traffic. In host based mode, the RS232 ports of the NPort Server Pro simply appear as com ports in the host PCs operating system. This allows the use of existing software for all device server applications. Many alternative modes are supported by the firmware, including UDP server/client, Ethernet modem and pair connection. The NPort Server Pro is metal-cased to suit demanding industrial applications.

MOXA CN2500 Async Server, with the latest 10/100 Mbps LAN interface and 8/16 serial interfaces, can be used to establish LAN-to-Async connectivity, such as async device control in the telecom industry, remote access in enterprise networks, and terminal access in financial/travel services.

CN2500 incorporates several popular features and functions, such as ASPP Async Device Control, Rtelnet console management, and PPP/SLIP/Terminal remote access, into its new cutting-edge hardware design. Furthermore, it has a built-in 15 KV surge protector for every signal.

CN2500 technology uses various enhanced software features. In addition to the RADIUS utility, CN2500 embeds a user database, providing alternatives for user profile management. RIP-1/2, another advancement in Async Server design, makes LAN-to-LAN routing more convenient than ever. CN2500 provides stability and performance when used with UNIX-based SUN/IBM/HP workstations, as well as with PCs running Windows or Linux. Using CN2500 is truly an easy and cost-effective way to blend Moxa's async technology with the new 100 Mbps LAN environment.
